What to Do if You Have a Setback

Let's say you've been doing great and following your healthy eating plan and exercise plan to the letter, but then you slip up.  You eat what you shouldn't and you eat a lot of it.  What do you do?

Although it would be really super if you just decide you're going to lose weight and you march straight ahead and achieve your weight loss goal without problems or difficulty, as you probably know from your past dieting experiences that doesn't always happen.

So what happens if you encounter some difficulty?   What happens if you have been doing well on your healthy eating plan and you are exercising every day but then today you blow it.  You don't exercise and you have that huge dessert you've been craving for days.  What do you do?

You have two choices:  you can be mad at yourself and beat yourself up with talk like "I've blown it.  I'll never be thin.  I knew this wouldn't work.  I may as well just eat some more."  OR you can acknowledge you slipped and move on.  "Yeah, okay.  I shouldn't have had that dessert but I did.  There is nothing I can do about it now.  At my next meal I'm going to continue with my healthy eating plan."

The key is to acknowledge that you have slipped and get back to your healthy eating plan and exercise plan at the next opportunity.  Don't wallow in your mistake.  Yeah, you made a mistake.  Everyone does. Acknowledge it and move on.  You can drown in the pity pool or you can get right back on the path to meeting your weight loss target.  Only you can decide which you want to do, but trust me you will feel a lot better if you choose to meet your weight loss target.

You CAN lose weight and reach your target goal!   Try your best, stick with it and truly want to lose weight and you WILL.
